Shutting down your machine correctly

If you work in an office, school or another business that is shutting down for 5 days or more over the Christmas period, it is important to make sure your machines are properly shutdown. Shutting down your machine requires a few easy steps to make sure it functions correctly on your return.

For all machines connected to the mains, you will need to turn off the mains water supply. This includes water coolers, coffee machines, boilers, fountains, and undersink chillers. Doing so will help prevent build up of pressure in the machine, which may cause damage.

Water machines

  1. Turn off the power supply. This is especially important if you have a hot & cold machine or a boiler. Doing so helps prevent energy wastage, saving you money whilst the machine is not in use.

  2. Please don’t turn off the power for ambient & cold coolers. Doing so will prevent normal machine function on your return.

  3. Bottled water coolers will need to have the water bottle removed from the machine before you leave.

  4. Leave the power supply on. It is important to note that a bottle of water that has been open for more than 3 weeks should be replaced. So please make a note of the open date before removal.

Coffee Machines

  1. For all coffee machines, ingredients/canisters should be removed first. Some of our products can be placed into a fridge for the duration of shutdown. But please be aware, nothing should be refrozen.

  2. Next, clean and flush your machine per usual instructions. This will make sure no excess product is left behind over the away period. It is also important for maintaining normal machine function and should be carried out regularly and not just before a full shutdown.

  3. Turn off the mains water supply.

  4. Turn off the electricity supply.

As always, we are here to help. If you need assistance with any of these steps please get in touch.
